Soka Gakkai Malaysia and Soka Gakkai Lanka Buddhist Association Hold Entrance-Level Study Examination on Nichiren Buddhism

On December 18, some 4,500 Soka Gakkai Malaysia members sat for a study department entrance-level examination at 32 venues throughout the country. The exam was conducted in English and Chinese. The study material included Nichiren's life and "The Three Kinds of Treasures" (The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin (WND), p. 848-853; and "On the Buddha's Prophecy" (WND, p. 398-404) from Nichiren's writings.

Soka Gakkai Lanka Buddhist Association held its first entrance-level study examination on December 15 in Colombo, and on December 18 in Kandy. Examinees, who ranged in age from 15 to 68 years, prepared for the exam by studying basic terms and concepts of Nichiren Buddhism, such as the "ten worlds," which are ten potential states or conditions that a person can manifest or experience, and "three obstacles and four devils," which are various obstacles and hindrances to one's practice of Buddhism.
